I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round fight which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming bout.
Former two-time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's arena on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will break his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I'm going to genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Exchange
Despite such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.
Paul rather criticized ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "ridiculous" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK opponent Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] outshines Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.
"I acknowledge that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, consistently making huge paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently being planned for two years from now.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul said.
Physical Disparity
As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference on show, it emphasized just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is really happening.
