Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
